Universal Robots Configuration

Before using Pick[+] with a Universal Robots, the robot must be properly configured to allow remote communication. This section covers the required settings in PolyScope.

Supported Controllers

All UR e-Series controllers running PolyScope 5.x and above and PolyScope X 10.14.0 and above are supported.

Enable Remote Control

It is necessary to enable Remote Control Mode in PolyScope. This allows the robot to execute commands sent by the Pick[+] software. Follow these steps to enable Remote Control Mode on the UR teach pendant:

  1. Open Settings on the UR teach pendant by pressing the button in the top right corner.
  2. Select SystemRemote Control
  3. Click Enable to activate remote control mode.

Robot Network configuration

To ensure proper communication between the Universal Robots system and the Pick[+] server, the robot's network settings must be correctly configured in PolyScope. For the full network overview (Server PC ports, camera and optional Client PC), see IP Configuration.

Follow these steps to set up the network connection:

  1. Open Settings on the UR teach pendant by pressing the button in the top right corner.
  2. Navigate to SystemNetwork
  3. Configure network connection in UR Polyscope as follows:

    • IP Address: 200.200.2.2
    • Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: 200.200.2.1 (Pick[+] server listens to robot on this IP)
  4. Click Apply to save the changes.

WARNING

If connection problem appears, verify that the Ethernet connection is properly configured on the UR controller.
- Go to SettingsSecurityServices
- Enable ALL services.
- If the Ethernet is disabled, the robot will not receive commands from Pick[+], even if Remote Control Mode is enabled.

Install the Pick[+] URScript Module

Pick[+] communicates with the robot through a URScript module provided by BitMetrics. This file must be transfered using a USB drive to the robot controller so it can be used in your robot programs:

  1. Copy the Pick[+] URScript file (.script) onto a USB drive.
  2. Insert the USB drive into the UR controller.
  3. On the teach pendant, open the File Manager and navigate to the USB drive.
  4. Copy the file to the robot's programs folder: Programs/
  5. The module is now available to import in your UR programs.

File provided by BitMetrics

The URScript module file is supplied as part of the Pick[+] installation package. Contact BitMetrics if you do not have this file.
